Thank you, Leah! I am waiting for a specialty tool to arrive on a slow boat from China so I can fix a known hardware problem. Only after I install a fresh battery, will I know if there is also a software issue or additional hardware issues. In any case, I hope to get it sorted in short order.

I'm heading offline for a few days so I just wanted to drop by to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, before I go. Hope you enjoy some fun, festive, and relaxing time this week!

At 20:14, Dec 22, 2015

Garsheppsaid:

I want to include you in my celebration, so Merry Christmas! It's not exclusive (or excluding others) by wishing others "Merry Christmas", but some propose that it is wrong to even say it nicely in public. But, saying "happy holidays" is NOT inclusive (not reaching out) but merely excludes the 80% who would like to say Merry Christmas, i.e.: excluding them and me from our desire to include/bless others by proclaiming a "Merry/Blessed Christmas". So what if it was Winter Solstice, once a pagan holiday; but calling it Christmas now elevates it to a higher calling... How to Celebrate Christmas.

Hi there,

I'm running an official wikiHow editor survey and I was wondering if you could help out by participating? This survey should take you about 5 minutes to complete. You can learn more about this research . I would really appreciate it if you could take it within a week. We have a wonderful community here and I'm eager to get a better idea of who contributes and why :)

Let me know if you have any questions at all about this!

At 02:09, Jan 19, 2019

Krystlesaid:

Thanks for filling it out! And nah, that's all we need to know for now - it asks a different number of questions for different people, some people only get 2 (age and username).

Thanks for your edits on Know if You Are Anemic. Oh, I didn't realize ice was considered part of pica - I've heard about eating dirt and paint chips and things like that, but didn't realize the ice part. Interesting - that seems much more common than the others!

At 19:22, Jan 25, 2019

Annasaid:

Oh yeah, it's definitely an odd one! I worked with a few kids with pica - dirt, paint chips, paper, lots of stuff that seemed soooo un-tasty to me, hah. The mind and body work in mysterious ways! Cheers for adding the point into the anemia topic, though - that's definitely worth knowing!

Heya Leah,

Thanks for your edits on Discussion:Finger Knit. I touched base with Todd on this and it looks like they were working on some revisions to the videos after their review of the initial additions, but the feedback got lost in the shuffle - I appreciate your catching it!

It sounds like they're set to try again with another set of video edits that match the steps better. Would that be helpful? Do the steps themselves need any changes, or are they good as is, videos aside?

At 17:52, May 11, 2019

Annasaid:

Ok, cool - that really helps, thanks! I wasn't sure if the steps themselves needed more work, or if the visuals were the main issue. Glad to hear that the upcoming video changes might do the trick! Let's watch this space and talk again once they're up :)

Hey hey Leah,

Todd did some editing on that Finger Knit article and a new set of videos went up - what do you think? Are they a better fit?

At 17:08, May 18, 2019

Annasaid:

Ah gotya, okay - maybe there's a text edit we could make in there to clarify the best way to do it? Glad that overall the videos are a better fit and demonstration, though - hopefully they will help more folks in this form!

At 18:16, May 25, 2019

Annasaid:

Thanks for your edits on Use a Snipping Tool.

Nice additions - def helps clarity there. I was thinking about whether this should be merged with - what do you think? Strictly speaking, they're probably not duplicates, right? But I'm wondering whether the Snipping Tool is only available on Windows, or if that is a term people use for all kinds of screenshotting? Any ideas?

At 18:53, May 25, 2019

Annasaid:

Ah okay - if there is something that people call a "snipping tool" on Mac, too, then yeah, agreed, they wouldn't really be dups, so in that case we wouldn't want to merge them. Maybe in due course someone will add a Mac method to this newer article, too! I put a couple of clarifications in the intro and added a stub tag for now, but it looks like it's a good one to grow in due course. Cheers for moving it along in its progress!

I've seen those big groups of fish swimming together at the Monterey aquarium here, but I didn't realize they actually had to be together. What happens if they're solo - lots of stress and unhappiness? :/

Aw yeah, that's a big topic - the one you did so far seems like it's off to a great start, though! I'm sorry your bunny is disabled - that's a lot to worry about, I bet! Is he very elderly, as rabbits go?

At 15:54, Sep 14, 2019

Aw, poor bun! I bet you take such good care of him, though - it's great that he's loving back to you, too! My brother and sister-in-law used to have a rabbit and honestly he was kind of a meanie - I can't imagine having to go through extra care hoops for someone who never showed you any love back. I'm glad yours is more easy going, at least. He's lucky to have you taking care of him so well! :)

I'm experiencing bad (not that was ever good) carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) in my left hand only, and having a test next week to get nerve signal speed analyzed to see whether it is severe/slow enough to warrant getting insurance to pay for surgery. Always something falling apart/crashing since I'm older (72 yr of age in December).

I've had some numbness/tingling (but not painfulness) off and on for 21 yr and then a less severe attack of pain in January. It went crazy-wild August 21st. Oh, well. It's calmed down some (on anti-inflammatory 3 times daily and NSAID analgesic), but I can't grab or clamp at all with my left thumb (but forefinger less severe) without hard sort of cramp-like pain and radiating up the forearm but much harsher into my palm near the thumb and forefinger plus the continual burning and electric shock-like feeling gets harsher. I hope I can qualify for surgery now, and don't have to wait for it to be more severe... (It reminds me of a man who was at 30% improved to 35% heart function [a little better], still waiting to see whether it gets down to 20% to qualify for heart transplant.)

What they call liberal is reverse logic as I see their tyrannical coercive ways. They lie about conservatives incessantly.Be Blessed, Thanks, Gar

At 04:40, Nov 13, 2019

Garsheppsaid:

Well, the people in each state decide by the vote of their citizens who register to prove residency and are then eligible to vote. The proportions that each states divides their number of electors up is decided by each state legislature. However, only two states (Maine and Nebraska) are not "winner take all" per their state law, but instead those two do their electoral votes based on the voters ballots in each U.S. Congressional district, rather by the whole state total.

You see then the 50 states cast their "electoral college" votes as their citizens voted (the system is required, established in the text of the original U.S. Constitution). The number of votes is equal to their proportional number of representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives + two (from each state having two senators).

So, even a state with only one congressional district has 3 votes. That was because that the less populated states wanted/demanded more than one vote in the presidential elections. Which is not exactly, "one-'man', one-vote." The highest populous state is CA 55 votes, then TX 38, NY 29, FL 29, Penn 20, and so on, by proportional apportionment of the total of reps and senators...

That process could be changed, but the constitution can only be changed by the amendment process, in two paths set up in the U.S. Constitution.

1. The U.S. Congress can propose an amendment text agreed by 2/3 of both houses, and their final draft must be ratified (with no changes) by 3/4 majority of state legislatures (38).

2. A state(s) can start getting other states to agree to to send representatives to a constitutional convention agreed by 2/3 of the states calling for one. They then would convene and write the proposed amendment and agree by 2/3 of the states attending on its text, and they send it to to be ratified by 3/4 as in path 1.

If more than 25% of the 50 states (13+) never ratify an the proposed amendment, then it does not go into effect. It could be revised and started through the process again, after a determined length of time the original one failed to pass. Oh, well, that is about it...

At 05:06, Nov 13, 2019

Garsheppsaid:

And "Leah", 33 amendments have been proposed and 27 passed (the first ten were ratified at the same time as the constitution and called "The Bill of Rights" as added to the basic document of the federal government to guarantee designated individual and state rights).

I enjoyed reviewing that info, and I hope it did not bore or confuse you with all the technicalities (to let you see how it works by states, rather than popular vote as such)...

That electoral process was to try to lessen chance of demagoguery in the different states of the country, when elected state electoral officials would be in each state electoral college group and could vote to not follow the popular vote of their own state's citizens, if they deemed that necessary, but that is not done, ever, as far as I know.

Adelaide, I'm back from cardiac arrest on way to hospital, Nov 19th. They revived me at hospital and put in a stent. I was in the hospital 17 days and transferred to 24 hr rehab hospital for 12 days, for 29 days total, got out December 18th, wow! My doctors were afraid I'd had too long a time without oxygen. I do have amnesia for the day of the heart attack, ICU and the 1st week overall.

I'm regaining strength, getting stronger/better soon, I pray(?), but one lady friend of my wife said her husband took 2 yrs to get back his strength after 2 stents were put in. He may have been very skinny and had to build up muscle. I lost 21 pounds before transfer to rehab, but I was muscular, and still have 30+ to lose.

I thank God for making it; I'm thankful I didn't leave my wife in the lurch. We need to gets things in order. I'm 72 and she's 73. She'll probably live to over 85 as her parents did. Many of my mom's side of my family died in 50s and 60s of heart trouble. Mom passed at age 73 in her sleep. My dad's family mostly live to 80s and 90s... I now see I'm sort of following Mom's family life expectancy. Stent saved my life. They could see my other heart arteries clogged about 40 to 45 %. Soon, I'll be getting anti-cholesterol med (statin, but have to wait until my liver enzymes normalize???).

Happy New Year. The Best.

If I make an edit on the article Alex will just reverse it knowing my opinions. I could email you the conversation we had, but it's quite long. let me know if you could help me out. :) Thanks, Leah"

I had already experienced having some of my edit reverted by Alex as you said "If I make an edit on the article Alex will just reverse it" -- as Alex does not really play fair, as he does not allow anyone to put in a differing or Christian POV in what he believes is accurate from his own POV. Maybe something could be done if he were not keeping it on his watchlist (but he probably is)... I think, I'll try some bits. Gary

Hi again Leah, I'll try to work in some more that may help to present the truth found in the Gospel, and hopefully, I'll avoid an edit war while staying the course to present the Gospel as best I can. Gary

Thanks for the remarks, Leah, the edit is still there. I didn't get into LGBT issues. tagged article "Accuracy in Doubt" which is better. I figured Alex would look at my contribs for whomever I might have been communicating with, and I have no problem about everyone being able to see those particular comments in user talk. -- Gary

Hey Leah - about my revert on the aquarium article - just wanted to let you know that I reverted it because I had heard about the beneficial bacteria disturbance issue that you removed. I used to keep myself and was once told that it isn't helpful to clean the tank unless necessary, like the article originally claimed. Thoughts?

Saw your edits on - glad you guys are going to get those tips sorted out! I'm curious about the whole fresh vs salt thing - is the whole article pretty much focused on fresh fish, or is much of it the same regardless of the scenario?

We had a bit of a heat wave a few weeks back... not so fun considering I'm pregnant, hah. You get really warm when you're expecting, so it was extra hot for me! But now it's cooled down again, and I'm grateful for that :)

Ah gotya, so some fall weather ahead - that's my fav time of year!

Thanks so much! We're definitely looking forward to meeting our little girl... and it should be pretty soon. I'll be heading offline for maternity leave starting after Friday, so then it's all baby prep all the time, and she'll be with us before we know it! Then I'll come back to the wiki in the new year, once we're a bit more settled in our new family routine :)

Hi Leah, I am very glad to see you, a fellow Christian and homeschooler. I am a Christian and am homeschooled, too. How do you improve an article to a Featured Article? I have written two articles myself, and neither one of them has passed the boosting process yet. Have a great day!

Good to hear from you.

I was taking daily Texas Center for Proton Therapy plus 6 XELODA tablets per day, 3 in AM and 3 in PM on treatment days only, allowing some recovery on weekends. I just finished the 5 1/2 weeks of 28 sessions. My pancreatic cancer has not visibly metastasized as yet. I had refused regular X-ray radiation and then learned about proton therapy. I'll have the results of it when it heals up enough to see on CT scans what it did to the tumor (shrinking or such). They said wait time is 2 or 3 months. Meantime I'll be doing chemo alternating Gemzar and XELODA. -- Gary Gary

If you're interested, can you fill out this form?

Thanks so much - and hope all is well with you :)

Oh that's right! Sorry, you totally did tell me that - foggy mom brain has replaced foggy pregnancy brain, hahaha. How exciting! Have you been brushing up on your German skills?

Yeah, it's pretty rough leaving her each morning, and I'm soooo keen to see her again by the end of the day. But her dad is on paternity leave at the moment so she's home with him, and they're getting lots of good daddy and daughter time, so that's super nice :)
