These strange coffins in Europe are also calledabebuu adekai, functional coffins made by specialized carpenters in Greater Accra, Ghana region.

These colorful objects are not only coffins, but are considered to be true works of art. The wide Western public was first shown at theLes Magiciens de la terreexhibition at the National Museumd'Art Modernein Paris. In 1989, the seven coffins that were exhibited in Paris, their creators were Kane Kwei (1922-1992) and his former assistant Paa Jo. Since then, they have been exhibited in many international art museums around the world.
